At Schibsted, we are reimagining how data powers high-quality journalism. Our mission is to build a best-in-class data ecosystem that fuels editorial insight, optimizes content workflows, and helps newsrooms work smarter—not harder.

We are now hiring a Data Engineer to join our growing Content Data team. In this role, you'll help develop the data infrastructure that supports everything from article creation to content distribution and performance tracking. You’ll make it easier for editors, product managers, and analysts to understand what resonates with audiences—and why.

Based in Stockholm, you’ll work in a collaborative, impact-driven environment where data is central to how we create, measure, and evolve content experiences across the Nordics. You'll contribute to systems that support automation, metadata standardization, video and audio analytics, and cross-brand editorial insights.

What will you do in this role?

This is a hands-on and high-impact role, where you’ll work across the full data lifecycle—from infrastructure to insight. You will:

  • Develop ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate large datasets from diverse sources into centralized data warehouses, data lakes, or other storage systems
  • Integrate diverse data sources (structured and unstructured), enabling consistent, high-quality datasets for analytics and machine learning
  • Build systems that power real-time personalization, editorial performance, A/B testing, audience engagement, and more
  • Implement and maintain tracking solutions and event pipelines to ensure trustworthy data across products
  • Collaborate closely with analysts, data scientists, product teams, and stakeholders to ensure data products align with business goals
  • Support lighter analysis tasks when needed and help make data accessible and actionable through tools like Tableau, Amplitude, Kilkaya, and Streamlit
  • For senior roles: Lead complex data architecture work, guide standards across teams, and mentor peers

We are looking for the following experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a professional software/data engineering role
  • Proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with data modeling in analytical environments
  • Hands-on experience with modern data pipelines and orchestration tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow)
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (especially AWS) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)
  • Understanding of agile workflows and software engineering best practices (e.g. version control, CI/CD)
  • Bonus: experience working with event data, editorial tools, or media analytics

Our tech stack:

  • Data platform: AWS, Snowflake, S3, Redshift
  • Transformation and orchestration: dbt, Airflow, Prefect
  • Programming and scripting: Python, SQL, R
  • Exploration and delivery: Tableau, Amplitude, Streamlit, Kilkaya

Who you are:

We believe you are independent and structured, with a strong drive to make an impact. You are communicative and collaborative, thriving at the intersection of tech, product, business, and editorial. Your curiosity and business mindset help you see how data can be turned into real value, and you are confident in bringing clarity and transparency to complex environments.

Why we enjoy working here:

At Schibsted, we value openness, curiosity, and collaboration. You’ll be part of a diverse, inclusive workplace that encourages bold thinking and continuous learning. Our work directly supports public interest journalism—and we take that responsibility seriously.

Whether you’re enabling better content decisions, driving user personalization, or shaping experimentation at scale, your contributions will help shape the future of digital media in the Nordics.

You will be joining a collaborative, impact-driven team that works across disciplines like technology, product, and editorial. We believe in structured yet flexible ways of working, balancing clear ownership with strong teamwork. Curiosity, openness, and a drive to create value through data are at the heart of how we operate. We support each other, celebrate continuous learning, and are passionate about turning complex challenges into meaningful solutions for our users and brands.
