Position Overview
The Manager of Advanced Analytics is a hands-on leader responsible for enabling data-driven decision-making through the design, development, and execution of advanced analytics solutions. This role will oversee the application of predictive and prescriptive modeling, data engineering, and scalable analytics pipelines to unlock value from enterprise data, especially within the context of the chemical manufacturing industry. The Manager will work closely with stakeholders across business and IT to deliver actionable insights, leveraging Microsoft Azure Databricks, Python, PySpark, and ERP systems such as SAP. This individual will support the broader analytics strategy by driving innovation in data science practices while ensuring operational excellence and alignment with business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions using machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical techniques to solve high-impact business problems.
- Build and maintain data analytics models on Microsoft Azure using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Python, and Apache Spark (PySpark).
- Collaborate with business and functional teams to define use cases, translate requirements into data science workflows, and deploy models that improve business outcomes.
- Apply a strong understanding of the chemical manufacturing value chain and SAP ERP systems to integrate analytics into core business processes.
- Champion best practices in data governance, model validation, and model monitoring, ensuring consistency with enterprise data architecture.
- Support initiatives related to Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), network design and optimization, and supply chain analytics through advanced modeling and scenario simulation.
- Integrate analytics to support and enhance Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, including metrics such as forecast accuracy, inventory turns, and service levels.
- Mentor junior data scientists, analysts, and data engineers to support talent development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Collaborate with external vendors or partners on specialized analytics initiatives when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Optimization, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in business intelligence or advanced analytics, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical industry setting.
- Proficient in Python and PySpark for large-scale data processing and analytics.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure ML, Azure Data Factory, Databricks).
- Solid understanding of ERP data structures, preferably SAP ECC or S/4HANA.
- Experience with machine learning lifecycle management, model deployment, and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or equivalent.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to translate technical findings into business insights.
- Preferred experience in Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) implementation and optimization, supply chain network modeling, and supporting S&OP metrics through analytics.
