Organizational Overview:

Role will be reporting into the Client Systems Support (CSS) /IT Organization, Tech & Ops

Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, CSS Lead Data Analyst role within CSS  is an individual contributor role and provides critical support to both technology and business stakeholders through specialized data investigation and processing capabilities. This position goes beyond standard business intelligence by performing methodical, yet creative data exploration to solve complex business challenges. The role serves as the technical bridge between raw data and actionable insights, supporting initiatives ranging from incident remediation and customer complaint resolution to pricing strategy validation and compliance verification. Through deep system knowledge and technical expertise with SAS and other query languages, this position enables SYF to make data-driven decisions, ensure accuracy of partner transactions and SYF IT managed Fiserv Optis configurations, cardholder billing initiatives, and maintain regulatory compliance across its portfolios.

Specifically, this role provides direct support to the Client Systems Support (CSS) - IT team and functional business partners through production data analysis related to various IT programs including focused on but not limited to rewards/loyalty programs and marketing spend and get bonus programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and code data queries using SAS and other data analytics/query tools to capture and analyze cardholder and transactional data from Synchrony data warehouses and Fiserv to proactively validate accuracy and monitor production performance of CSS-driven changes such as rewards/loyalty campaigns.

  • Interact closely with multiple teams and leaders to understand project requirements and system setup parameters. Translate details into technical criteria necessary to obtain relevant production data

  • Include and maintain all required supporting documentation for future audit and legal review.

  • Identify and work with IT partners to implement quality improvement programs

  • Perform special assignments and other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with data analysis and data mining tools including SAS

  • Demonstrated strong cross-functional team player

  • Ability to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact and resolution options

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • 3+ years knowledge of First Data Processing system, including Information Delivery Platform (IDP reports) and cardholder billing processes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management and external groups

  • Superior oral and written communication, analytical and problem solving skills

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of IT experience OR 2) in lieu of degree High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of Project Management experience in IT environment

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with credit card processing or financial services

WORK TIMINGS : 2PM to 11 PM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
