09The Team:
The Fertilizer Analytics team (also known as Fertecon) is part of S&P Global’s Commodity Insights division, within the Research and Analytics (R&A) business line. For more than 40 years it has been the leading source of market information and analysis on fertilizers and fertilizer raw materials, producing a range of short-term and long-term analysis products to provide data and insight on the fertilizer market and related products.
Responsibilities and Impact:
Our team is entering a new, exciting phase in its decades-long history.
We are hiring for a new role, aimed at bringing our analytical toolkit further in terms of its consistency across the company, compatibility with AI-powered tools, and ability to improve the overall efficiency of our workflows.
The role will require the new team member to develop a deep understanding of the subject matter described by numbers and formulas, ensuring that insights are not replaced by coding and automation, but powered by them instead.
The role will include significant customer representation and the timely update and maintenance of models, working closely with other members of the Fertilizer Analytics team, and many other teams within the company.
The key responsibilities are:
- Development and maintenance of shared models for market balances, product linkages, cost analysis, price forecasting, freight estimation, and trade flows
- Contribution to our short-term and long-term analytics reports, in the form of written content
- Continuous engagement with other teams within our company to ensure consistency across teams and compliance with shared practices and internal workflows
- External representation of our results with customers and other stakeholders (both virtual and live)
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Experience with databases, data modelling, coding environments (especially Python), and statistical techniques for estimation and forecasting. Experience with AI-powered tools preferred.
- Innate curiosity and a thirst for learning. You will be required to develop independent analysis and deliver it to our customers – drive and passion about the subject matter will be the most important foundation.
- Strong command of English language, preferably with direct experience in producing written analytical reports.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in commodity market analysis (not necessarily fertilizers)
- Familiarity with economic concepts such as supply, demand, marginal cost, depreciation
- Familiarity with agricultural markets and their drivers
