Nanotronics Lead AI Engineers are mainly responsible for researching novel, cutting edge machine learning and AI techniques for inspection. Along with that, they also focus on other aspects of research, including integration, budget and forecast preparation, building out an AI team as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy new machine learning (ML) and AI models in existing and future Nanotronics products.
- Build software to integrate ML/AI capabilities into existing products and pipelines to increase existing functionality of Nanotronics products.
- Develop new computer vision products and supporting tools for nSpec™ optical inspection tools
- Incorporation of relevant machine learning techniques that apply to current and future Nanotronics products.
- Work with other engineers to maintain and upgrade existing Nanotronics AI/ML products as per requirement.
- Facilitate inter-team communication about results and crossover applicability
- Integrate products into Nanotronics core products when required.
- Coordinate with product [VB1] and sales teams ensuring clear deliverables from research projects leading to commercialization
- Creation of relevant IP, white papers, and scientific publications.
- Build test user interfaces using available and easy to access programming languages (i.e., Python, C++, etc.).
- Other research and development needs as they arise.
- Design, implement, and oversee the lab's function
- Implement appropriate policies and procedures for the lab
- Review, monitor, track, and trend technical and employee performance
- Ensure communication of lab discoveries, progress, and results
- Expand the lab's research portfolio by leading the development of new AI research projects and proposals
- Recommend measures to improve the lab
Education and Experience
- BS or Masters’ degree in Computer Science, Physics, Robotics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in professional AI research
- Demonstrated ability to interface with other development teams and customers to deploy AI applications
- Peer-reviewed research publication history
- Public-facing presentations at conferences
Required Skills:
- Mastery of Python and a working knowledge of C++
- Experience with computer vision, deep learning and machine learning, particularly OpenCV and PyTorch
- Ability to grasp high order concepts in physics, computer vision, machine learning, and robotics
- Experience designing applications for debuggability in austere environments
- Experience creating clean, elegant Python code
- Experience working with other teams to deploy and support AI to the edge
- Excellent writing skills to document customer requirements and edge cases in a form allowing debugging and development without access to customer data
- Ability to employ critical thinking, and decision making
- Time management acumen
- Uphold the highest standards of collaboration with other team members and product stakeholders to create solutions and support new ideas
