AMA is seeking to hire an AI Intern at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. This is a short term (10-week) on-site summer internship starting early June, and the position will support the Program Management Office for the Research, Science, and Engineering Services (RSES) contract. Under RSES, AMA performs work for NASA, supporting multiple directorates through capabilities in an array of disciplines. AMA maintains a strong effort on process improvement and workforce empowerment, and this internship position will focus on development of LLM based workforce assistance tools.
The selected candidate will collaborate closely with AMA’s Information Technology team to build out cloud solutions that integrate numerous business tools with LLM capabilities and automate interactions with the workforce.
This role is limited to Virginia residents or students currently enrolled in a Virginia based institution of higher learning.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the design, development, and testing of AI chatbot solutions built on AWS Bedrock.
Support integration tasks to connect the chatbot with internal documentation, databases, and user interfaces.
Optimize chatbot prompts, response accuracy, and overall conversational user experience.
Contribute to the creation of technical documentation and user guides.
Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Coursework with focus on AI/ML algorithms.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
Interest in Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI/ML solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud computing systems such as AWS (AWS Bedrock, EC2 instances, etc.).
Knowledge of web-based interfaces (e.g., Streamlit, Gradio).
Understanding of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector Embeddings, and Vector Databases
Familiarity with Role Based Access Control (RBAC) and client credential management
Understanding of ticketing tools, version control systems, and software development methodologies
Proficiency with Linux operating systems
Experience with SQL
