Duke University is seeking a Research Statistician in the Department of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics (https://biostat.duke.edu/) within the School of Medicine. In 2024, Duke University was ranked as the 6th leading research institution in the US, according to the US News and World Report.
Position Description: This Research Statistician fellow position is funded by multiple NIH projects, e.g., https://tinyurl.com/yy8xwtoq, https://tinyurl.com/bhkr2mm5, and https://tinyurl.com/2f99j7df. The Research Statistician will collaborate closely with Dr. Sheng Luo (https://scholars.duke.edu/person/sheng.luo) and his team to conduct rigorous statistical analyses and support methodological development. Responsibilities include cleaning and managing data, performing longitudinal and survival analyses, developing predictive models, assisting in the preparation of manuscripts and presentations, and contributing to grant applications. The application areas include neurological diseases, aging research, cancers, and radiology. The work will involve both methodological research with biostatistics faculty and collaboration with biomedical investigators.
Preferred Qualifications: A Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field is required. Strong background and experience in statistical programming using R, SAS, or Python, with demonstrated skills in data cleaning, modeling, and visualization are preferred. Prior training in longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, Bayesian methods, and joint modeling is highly desirable. Experience working with clinical or biomedical data, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases, oncology, or large-scale studies, is a plus. Demonstrated evidence of excellent collaboration, programming, and communication skills.
