About the Role

Polygon Technology is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our growing data infrastructure team. In this role, you will design, build, and manage scalable data pipelines and streaming solutions that power critical business applications. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring expertise in high-throughput data processing and real-time data systems.

We’re looking for a candidate with a strong background in Apache Kafka, Solaris, and data engineering principles, capable of working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data flow and system reliability.

💼 Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust data pipelines using Apache Kafka for real-time and batch data processing

• Manage and optimize data flow across distributed systems, ensuring scalability and reliability

• Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot systems running on Solaris OS

• Work closely with software engineers, analysts, and DevOps to ensure smooth integration of data systems

• Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across the entire infrastructure

• Develop tools and automation for monitoring, testing, and maintaining data systems

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in data architecture

Qualifications

🎓 Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in a professional data engineering role

• Proven expertise in Apache Kafka: producers, consumers, stream processing, Kafka Connect

• Hands-on experience working in Solaris environments

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and real-time data flow

• Experience with shell scripting and system-level troubleshooting

• Proficient in tools like Git, SQL, and data pipeline frameworks

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in an on-site environment
