We're now looking for a Data Processing Lead to join our team in Amsterdam: a hands-on technical expert who’s ready to lead the development of advanced signal processing algorithms and guide a multidisciplinary team toward cutting-edge innovation.

Optics11 is an Amsterdam-based high-tech scale-up company on a mission to innovate underwater security and put Netherlands on the map of European sonar industry. Our novel fiberoptic technology is redefining underwater security, enabling advanced sonar solutions for safeguarding of key naval and underwater infrastructure. Our high-paced development has been met with an ever-growing interest from the market, with selection of our towed array technology for the new generation of Dutch submarines being the latest testament to our progress. Main responsibilities: 

• Lead and manage Data Processing Team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture while defining clear goals and responsibilities. 

• Mentor, motivate, and develop technical knowledge among team members to enable them to perform at their best and grow professionally. 

• Oversee the design, development, and testing of data processing algorithms and architectures. 

• Provide hands-on technical guidance to resolve complex challenges in data processing and algorithm development. 

• Drive innovation by actively participating in brainstorming and technical problem-solving sessions. 

• Promote continuous improvement in development processes and methodologies. 

• Provide technical input to senior leadership for product roadmaps and strategic decisions.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For? 

• MSc in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field. 

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in R&D, with a proven track record in data handling and algorithm development. 

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership/management role, preferably within a technical environment. 

• Proven experience in leading data engineering or data science teams. 

• Strong background in algorithm development, statistical analysis, and data modelling. 

• Expertise in big data technologies, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and modern data stack tools. 

• Proficiency in Python, SQL and  data processing frameworks. 

• Excellent communication and leadership skills. 

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently. 

• Excellent leadership, people management, and mentoring abilities. 

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for various stakeholders. 

• Proactive, hands-on, and result-driven mindset. 

• Strategic thinker with a problem-solving attitude. 

Nice to Have :

• Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies. 

• Experience in implementing IoT based workflows.  

• Familiarity with machine learning workflows and MLOps. 

You'll be working with clients in the defence and security sectors, obtaining a Certificate of No Objection issued by the AIVD (Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory.
