Are you excited about using econometrics and statistics to impact real-world business decisions in Amazon's Prime Video business? We are looking for a Senior Economist to independently source research questions, drive research workstreams end-to-end, and build innovative solutions based on econometrics, experimentation, and machine learning helping us to answer challenging and impactful business problems for Prime Video.
If you have an experienced economist with strong stakeholder skills, you know how to deliver results fast, and you have a deeply quantitative, highly innovative approach to solving problems we want to talk to you.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive complex research workstreams end-to-end leveraging state-of-the-art causal inference methods
- Develop advanced structural demand and econometric frameworks
- Build strong stakeholder relationships
- Develop and execute an science vision
- Collaborate with and influence other scientists at Amazon to deliver measurable progress and change
- Influence business leaders based on empirical findings
A day in the life
You will work as an individual contributor working on a mix of complex strategic, long-term research as well as tactical analytical projects. You will write technical as well as business-facing docs and present your work to business leaders and the science community.
About the team
The Video Economics team consists of PhD-trained structural and causal-inference Economists. We are an high-impact team driving decision-making in areas including PV with ads and content portfolio optimization.
- Completed PhD in Economics or equivalent
- Expert knowledge in applying empirical techniques in reduced-form causal analysis and econometric modelling
- Proficiency in using programmatic scripting languages for data analysis (e.g. Python, R) and extraction (SQL)
- Proficiency in optimization and microeconomic modelling and/or empirical IO
- Strong publication record
- Effective verbal and written communications skills with both economists and non-economist audiences.

Basic Qualifications
- Completed PhD in Economics or equivalent
- Expert knowledge in applying empirical techniques in reduced-form causal analysis and econometric modelling
- Proficiency in using programmatic scripting languages for data analysis (e.g. Python, R) and extraction (SQL)
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years in post-doctoral work experience- Proficiency in optimization and microeconomic modelling and/or empirical IO
- Strong publication record
- Effective verbal and written communications skills with both economists and non-economist audiences.
