Are you a data enthusiast with a passion for transforming information into insights that improve public health? Join our Health Intelligence and Analytics team as a Health Data Analyst and play a vital role in advancing evidence-informed decision-making across Peel Region’s health system.

In this role, you’ll dive into complex health datasets, build compelling visualizations, and support initiatives that directly impact service delivery, policy development, and population health outcomes. Your work will help shape a smarter, healthier future for Peel.

 

Your Impact

  • Deliver Insightful Analytics – Conduct high-quality data analysis to support health services planning, performance measurement, and strategic decision-making.
  • Build Engaging Visual Tools – Create dynamic dashboards and interactive visualizations to clearly communicate key insights to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ensure Data Quality & Compliance – Perform data cleaning, integration, and de-identification while ensuring adherence to PHIPA and data governance standards.
  • Collaborate for Better Outcomes – Work closely with internal teams, health program leads, and external partners to provide analytics solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Support Data-Driven Innovation – Contribute to business intelligence projects and help design creative analytics tools that translate complex health data into actionable information.
  • Enhance System Intelligence – Mine historical data to identify patterns and trends that improve service design and delivery across a multi-program, multi-sector health environment.

What You Bring

  • Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Geography/Geomatics, Economics, Engineering, or a related data-focused discipline.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and applied analytics experience.
  • Analytical Acumen: Experience using statistical software (e.g., R), GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS), or other analytical programming languages to perform health or population-based analysis.
  • Project Contribution: Demonstrated ability to support projects by conducting literature reviews, developing methodologies, processing data, and preparing reports or presentations.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with data visualization and dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with programming tools such as R (ggplot), Python, D3, or Processing.
  • Experience with data management, including database design, cleaning, and integration.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical skills, including descriptive and predictive analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner to various audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, client-focused approach to working in teams.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access, including data manipulation techniques.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security standards, especially related to PHIPA.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with health-related and demographic datasets.
  • Experience working in the public sector or with government-funded health programs.
  • Knowledge of health system planning, health informatics, or business intelligence strategies.

Work Mode:

In this role, you’ll benefit from a hybrid work arrangement that fosters meaningful in-person connections. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in-person and remote work to balance organizational priorities and employee flexibility.

 

Note: Your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
