We are looking for a Data Science Intern to join our AI & Data Science team.
You will be part of a dynamic group working at the intersection of machine learning, data engineering, AI product development and ML operation.

Our team builds intelligent solutions that support decision-making and automation not only across various domains of logistics business,
but also across various departments of Hapag-Lloyd organization.
We work with structured and unstructured data, develop models for prediction, classification, and recommendation,
and deploy these models into scalable production environments.

This internship is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in applied data science,
working with real-world datasets, and contributing to machine learning solutions that have meaningful business impact.

  • Support the design, development, and evaluation of machine learning models.
  • Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets using statistical and computational techniques.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights and inform model development.
  • Document experiments, methodologies, and results in a clear and structured manner.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data pipelines and model deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, MLOps engineers and product managers.
  • Participate in Agile development activities based on Kanban or Scrum or pragmatic mixtue of these two.
  • Work with modern technologies, including: Python, Jupyter, SQL, Git, AWS, Docker, MLflow, Databricks.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with Python and data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn).
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases; familiarity with NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB) would be a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new tools, methods, and technologies in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience with data visualization tools would be a plus.
  • Good command of English.
  • Availability minimum 0.75 FTE (30h/week).
