Job Description [Power BI Analytics Lead] – 6+ years

The Analytics Lead position is an integral part of analytics & reporting team at Mercatus. The primary goal of the analytics lead is to work in concert with a Customer Success Manager to implement Mercatus’ EIM solution for new customers as well as manage and make recommendations to customers after implementation.

An analytics lead will participate in strategic and tactical planning discussions, gather requirements, and deliver complete analytics/reporting solutions. As a senior hire on the analytics team, this person will have the opportunity to lead implementations, utilize critical thinking to develop bespoke solutions for clients, and collaborate with various departments within the organization to enhance the product offering.

Power BI Developer Roles and Responsibilities:

• Understand business requirements in BI context and design data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights

• Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports

• Design, develop and deploy business intelligence solutions as per needs

• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) with clear objectives and consistently monitor those

• Analyzing data and present data through reports that aid decision-making

• Convert business requirements into technical specifications and decide timeline to accomplish

• Create relationships between data and develop tabular and other multidimensional data models

• Chart creation and data documentation explaining algorithms, parameters, models, and relations

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Power BI scripts and perform detailed analytics

• Perform DAX queries and functions in Power BI along with transformation of data using POWER QUERY functions

• Redefine and make technical/strategic changes to enhance existing Business Intelligence systems

• Create customized charts and custom calculations as per requirements

• SQL querying for best results, use of filters and graphs for better understanding of data

• Work with users and team members at all levels for performance improvement and suggestions

• Good understanding of Import and Direct query storage mode with its advantages and disadvantages of using them along with hybrid model

• Should know all the functionality from Power BI Services [Cloud] along with share and collaborate features

• Good exposure to PBI REST APIs and power BI embed

• Able to develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with warehouse standards

• Good to have knowledge and skills for secondary tools such as Microsoft Azure, SQL data warehouse, PolyBase, Visual Studio, etc

• Able to implement row level security on data and understand application security layer models in Power BI

• Extensive hands-on experience on Power BI Desktop

• Direct vs Import Data Storage Mode

• Should have good knowledge of data modelling techniques

• Should have a good understanding of Performance analyzer using DAX studio

• DAX optimization using DAX studio

• Should have exposure to Power Automate & MS Flow

• Knowledge and understanding of SQL Query Writing [Basics]

• Fair Understanding of different ETL tools

• Power BI Report Builder OR SSRS exposure
