POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Business Intelligence Analyst will play a key role in leveraging the organization’s data to support strategic decision-making. This role is focused on analyzing complex datasets, resolving data inconsistencies, and delivering actionable insights through advanced reporting and visualization tools. The ideal candidate will have strong technical capabilities, a deep understanding of financial processes, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to improve data governance and analytical frameworks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize Power BI, SQL, and other tools to design and maintain dashboards, reports, and custom visualizations for stakeholders across the organization.
  • Conduct ad hoc and in-depth financial analyses to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Provide meaningful insights and actionable recommendations by analyzing large, complex datasets.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting solutions for cross-departmental use.

Data Governance and Quality:

  • Identify and address inconsistencies, redundancies, and inaccuracies within data sets.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce data quality standards and best practices.
  • Partner with IT and other departments to ensure proper integration and management of data sources, including ERP and other systems.

Collaboration and Business Support:

  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, HR, and other departments to understand data needs and provide tailored analytical solutions.
  • Assist in developing business cases for new or enhanced data-driven solutions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes through accurate and timely data reporting.

Technical Expertise:

  • Build advanced data models to support financial and operational decision-making.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and providers to manage data integrations and system updates.

Visualization and Communication:

  • Use data visualization tools (primarily Power BI) to present data in a clear, visually appealing, and user-friendly format.
  • Provide training and support to ensure stakeholders can effectively utilize dashboards and tools.
  • Regularly produce detailed reporting packages and KPIs for senior leadership.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort through data-driven strategies.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging analytics tools, and best practices to continuously enhance the organization’s analytics capabilities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an industrial manufacturing or data-intensive organization.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial data (Axiom experience is preferred).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Power BI and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Python or similar programming languages is a plus.
  • Comprehensive experience in business process analysis and data modeling.
  • Expertise in managing large datasets and creating automated reporting solutions.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
