THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Zalando’s Performance Marketing department is dedicated to deepening relationships with consumers outside Zalando premises by delivering relevant and engaging digital ads. We drive profitable growth through data-driven decision-making, while prioritizing customer privacy and leveraging innovative technology.

As a Data Analyst, you’ll join a highly skilled and collaborative analytics team, supporting Zalando’s performance marketing efforts across various advertising channels. You’ll work closely with marketing professionals, product managers, engineers, and applied scientists to evaluate and optimize marketing investments and performance.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

  • Collaborate with senior analysts and marketing teams on optimization projects across global ad platforms (e.g., Google Search, Meta), helping prepare performance analyses

  • Support testing and experimentation initiatives within Performance Marketing to improve the estimation of true marketing effectiveness and optimizing the marketing strategies. This includes assisting with test setup, tracking validation, and interpreting results to guide data-driven investment decisions.

  • Support marketing measurement initiatives, ensuring accuracy and relevance in tracking and reporting methodologies.

  • Support research efforts by conducting exploratory data analysis, formulating initial hypotheses, and assisting in selecting appropriate methodologies for evaluation.

  • Collaborate with other analysts to evolve our KPI framework, create models to detect metric anomalies, and improve existing marketing performance measurement models.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for strong analytical foundations and hands-on experience in the following areas to succeed in this role:

  • Experience: +2–4 years of experience as a Data Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role in a fast-paced business environment. You’ve contributed to cross-functional projects and are eager to take on more ownership over time.

  • Analytics: You’re confident in structuring analytical approaches to evaluate marketing performance and support business decisions, with experience working with KPI frameworks and deriving actionable insights.

  • Statistics: You have a solid understanding of A/B testing and foundational causal inference methods (e.g., difference-in-differences). Exposure to predictive models (e.g., logistic regression) is a plus.  (Note: You will be asked to complete a task-based interview related to A/B testing and other basic causal inference methods as part of the process.)

  • Programming: Proficiency in SQL, including best practices like window functions and CTEs. Experience using Python for data analysis is a strong advantage. (Note: You will be asked to complete a SQL and Python task as part of the process.)

  • Data handling: You’ve worked with marketing and tracking data, helped define data needs, and are comfortable with basic ETL processes. Exposure to data governance or compliance topics is a plus.

  • Communication: You can translate complex data into clear insights for both technical and non-technical audiences. You’re collaborative, curious, and comfortable working across functions.

  • Educational background: A degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or similar—paired with a strong desire to learn and grow in marketing analytics.
