Location: Portland, Oregon (Hybrid)

Reports To: Director of Information Technology

Employment Type: Full-Time / Exempt

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 Annually

Position Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing reports and dashboards that provide insight into operational performance, client activity, and business trends. This role involves writing SQL queries to extract and transform data from relational sources, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into analytical solutions. The analyst supports both recurring and ad hoc reporting, contributes to process improvement initiatives, and helps maintain documentation to promote clarity and continuity in data practices. This position plays a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making across multiple departments by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable information.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting & Dashboard Development

    • Design and build clear, insightful reports and dashboards using modern BI and data visualization tools.

    • Maintain and update recurring reports to reflect changing business requirements and operational needs.

    • Continuously improve report layouts and visualizations to enhance usability and decision-making value.

    • Ensure reports are user-friendly, accessible, and tailored to various stakeholder groups.

  • Data Extraction & Analysis

    • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, join, and manipulate data from relational databases.

    • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.

    • Provide quantitative support for business initiatives, operational reviews, and strategic planning.

    • Respond to ad hoc data requests and conduct exploratory data analysis to support leadership and department teams.

  • Data Quality & Governance

    • Clean and validate raw data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness in reporting outputs.

    • Collaborate with data owners and system administrators to resolve discrepancies or data integrity issues.

    • Document data sources, query logic, metric definitions, and calculations to promote transparency and reliability.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration

    • Partner with internal teams to understand reporting needs, business goals, and process nuances.

    • Translate business requirements into data-driven solutions that align with company objectives.

    • Serve as a resource to help teams interpret and leverage data effectively for their functional areas.

    • Participate in cross-functional meetings to review metrics, present findings, or refine analytics strategy.

  • Process Improvement & Enablement

    • Contribute to the development of internal data and reporting standards, including templates, delivery methods, and version control.

    • Recommend process improvements for data access, reporting workflows, or dashboard deployment.

    • Support internal users in accessing and using reporting tools and dashboards, including creating user guides or training materials.

    • Help identify opportunities to automate routine reporting tasks and increase efficiency through smarter tooling or workflows.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years in a data analytics, business intelligence, report  development, or similar role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent additional  professional experience.

  • Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases to support data analysis tasks.

  • Experience building reports or dashboards using a business intelligence or data visualization tool.

  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms or large datasets.

  • Experience with scripting languages or statistical tools for data manipulation and analysis.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to clearly communicate data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.

  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts and basic ETL or data pipeline practices.

  • Proficiency in spreadsheet tools for light analysis or prototyping.
