Job Summary:

The HIM Data Integrity Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the integrity of the CNE Master Patient Index and all CNE system patient medical records by utilizing system tools and functions to perform chart corrections when errors occur.

Work collaboratively with HIM Department Leadership.

Will be responsible to manage, maintain, complete and follow up of the Chart Corrections, Potential Duplicates, and Marked for Merge work queues.

Develops and runs reports for quality and auditing purposes to identify system trends and offer improvements.

Will perform system testing, staff trainings, assist in the development of policies and procedures, and act as a resource and liaison to all staff in problem resolution and guidance that apply to system applications.

Additional Information:

• Demonstrates proficiency in all standards, rules, and regulations governing Health Information Management (HIM) departments for clinical documentation.
• Possesses a high-level understanding of processes for chart corrections, record merges, combines, unmerging, and uncombining within the EPIC EHR, while maintaining compliance with patient record integrity.
• Exhibits critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make unbiased decisions while working independently with minimal supervision.
• Displays excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and operational teams.
• Holds advanced experience and technical proficiency with computer systems and applications, including Cerner and EPIC EHRs, Adobe, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains the Master Patient Index by performing corrections in the EHR to ensure patient record integrity.

•Executes chart corrections by moving, updating, combining, uncombining, merging, or unmerging documentation, MRNs, and visit encounters using system tools.

•Manages and completes work queues for Chart Corrections, Potential Duplicates, and Marked for Merge

•Researches and validates patient demographics using internal and external systems.•Corrects and assigns providers in patient records, including Primary Care Providers (PCPs).

•Collaborates with HIM leadership to ensure compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards

.•Manages change control, monitors system incidents, and oversees service requests in the EHR.

•Participates in system testing for upgrades and new packages.

•Oversees system downtimes and recovery procedures for HIM departments.

•Develops and updates policies and procedures related to chart corrections, system upgrades, and downtime processes.

•Creates and analyzes reports to identify trends, mitigate risk, and recommend workflow improvements.

•Partners with Medical Records, Privacy, Compliance, and Data Governance committees to maintain data integrity.

•Reviews the Provider Finder Database for accuracy and submits service requests as needed.

•Serves as a liaison and resource to providers and staff on chart correction processes.

•Provides ongoing training to end users and develops training materials

•Selects appropriate communication methods to complete correction tasks efficiently.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Associate’s degree Required; bachelor’s degree Preferred.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience.

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Preferred
