Data Engineer (Tech Hub / Athens)

At ITT, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be part of the Data Analytics & AI team participating in the development and implementation of the company’s Cloud Data Engineering projects. In this role you will have the opportunity to work closely with the rest of the team and business users to understand, innovate and help build cloud solutions to support the company’s data transition to the Cloud.
Essential Responsibilities
More specifically you will:
- Work on the design, implementation and maintenance of ETL processes on Azure Fabric for various projects across the business
- Implement processes and automations that will ensure that the data is correct, reconciling data sources and identifying inconsistencies and data quality issues
- Create and maintain target-state data architectures on the cloud according to state-of-the-art Data Engineering Frameworks
- Contribute to the development of migrating data from existing on-premise infrastructure to cloud
- Assist in identifying processes that allow for cleaner integration and effective use of data within the business
- Collaborate closely with other data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of data solutions
- Actively participate in team meetings and discussions, contributing ideas and solutions to improve processes and outcomes
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on data processes, requirements, and deliverables
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in data engineering, continuously improving tools, processes, and best practices on Azure
Position Requirements
What we are looking for:
- 3+ years Data Engineering Experience, at least 2 years focused on Cloud Technologies
- Proven experience in coding for data engineering (Python/PySpark)
- Creating, testing, and iteratively improving new data models
- Applied experience working with Cloud – preferably Azure – data services
- Experience in at least one of the following data technologies: Synapse, Fabric, Spark, Databricks, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of relational, dimensional, and tabular data modeling principles and practices
- Strong knowledge of SQL/SparkSQL and Python/PySpark for data extraction, cleansing, and analysis
- Experience managing data, including data architectures, data quality, metadata management, ETL processes, analytics
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
- Strong team player mentality with a collaborative approach to problem-solving
Any experience in the following will be considered a strong plus:
- Experience with Fabric and Airflow
- Experience with version control tools (git), working in dev and production environments
- Familiarity with data governance practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, STEM or a related field
- Data Engineering / Data Science / Data Analytics certifications / bootcamps / Master’s degree are a plus
