Our Technical, Advisory, and Capability (TAC) practice and Team Downer serves as one of the Major Service Providers delivering consulting services and Integrated Work Packages across the Department of Defence, leveraging innovative approaches such as mission and digital engineering to enable the successful delivery of critical Defence programs. This includes collaboration with key Defence entities, including Defence Digital Group (DDG), National Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG), Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), and branches across the Navy, Army, and Air Force. 

C4 Design establishes the standards and structure for networks across the joint force using Mission Engineering principles and extensive communications expertise. We are seeking a candidate to join this joint project in Canberra, focused on Autonomous Systems, AI - Artificial Intelligence to: 

• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team of ADF members, APS, and contractors.  

• Support the development of the ADF Autonomous Systems and Teaming Framework. 

• Coordinate Autonomous Systems activities with a collaborative, programmatic approach. 

• Assist capability development milestones, including exercises, testing, and events (interstate travel may be required). 

• Plan and execute JFI-directed activities, including exercise directives, orders, and risk management plans. 

• Prepare and deliver briefs for JFI assurance and force design policy stakeholders. 

The successful candidate must have Defence industry experience coupled with: 

• Expertise in Autonomous Systems or AI applications in Autonomous Systems  

• Strong collaborative, team-focused approach 

• Experience in autonomous systems development and risk controls 

• Expertise in planning and executing Defence test, evaluation, and experimentation activities 

• Skilled in developing and presenting briefs to senior Defence leaders 

• Knowledge of the One Defence Capability System 

• Understanding of C4 standards for Autonomous Systems and Teaming 

Our work is highly complex and confidential; applicants must be Australian citizens with a minimum NV1 security clearance. Additionally, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may be necessary. In some cases, this may impose restrictions individuals who are dual citizens, permanent residency, or former nationality of specific countries as outlined in ITAR 126.1.
