Reporting to the Manager of Research and Insights, the Performance Data Analyst is responsible for identifying, extracting, organizing, storing, modeling, analyzing, and reporting data to support Marketing initiatives, Customer Experience (CX) initiatives, and Divisional initiatives. The primary focus of this role is to create and frame business scenarios that are meaningful and impact critical issues, aiding in process improvement and decision-making. This position involves designing and maintaining an effective approach to uncover valuable insights from large, rich datasets sourced from both internal and external origins. Additionally, the role includes the development of quantitative metrics and analysis, ensuring that the latest industry best practice metrics are considered, along with metrics and measures important to the marketing unit, the customer experience unit, and their stakeholders. The Performance Data Analyst collaborates with subject matter experts and managers to select relevant sources of information.

Compensation

$83,280 - $99,000 annually

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid.  All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
     

What you’ll do

  • Identify, extract, organize, store, analyze, report, and model data from both internal and external sources to support Marketing and Customer Experience (CX) initiatives.

  • Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis, and extend company data with third-party sources as needed.

  • Organize and maintain databases with data joined across multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and validity of information displayed.

  • Create and maintain reporting and dashboard visualizations using tools like Power BI and Tableau to support data-driven
    decision-making by division leaders.

  • Analyze external and internal customer data and marketing data using database queries (SQL), spreadsheet (Excel) models, web analytics tools (Adobe Analytics), and statistical analysis tools (Python, R, SPSS).

  • Provide actionable overall marketing, customer, and division data insights to address key strategic questions and track, report, and analyze the performance of customer experience and marketing activities.

  • Evaluate customer interaction behavior and feedback to provide
    insights and recommendations for further enhancements to the overall customer experience.

  • Model and frame business scenarios that impact critical customer-facing issues and help navigate process improvements/decisions.

  • Implement automated processes for data efficiency and create PowerPoint presentations to provide analytical insights for various customer experience and marketing stakeholders.

  • Serve as data subject matter expert for marketing data, customer sentiment, interactivity data, and maintain an expert understanding of analytics software.

What you need

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas. Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously using project management software, ensuring accuracy and maintaining proper pacing.

  • Experience in building and automating management-level reporting.

  • Working knowledge of extracting, interpreting, and preparing both quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguous data from various sources (file, database, cloud, API, etc.).

  • Ability to identify and make sense of rich data sources, manage large datasets, merge datasets, ensure consistency, graphically portray data to gain insights, build statistical models, understand data and model shortcomings, and effectively communicate findings.

  • Understanding of the capabilities, limitations, and characteristics of corporate data systems, and the ability to build relationships with data subject matter experts throughout the company.

  • Ability to make decisions using independent judgment and
    creativity to resolve issues and overcome roadblocks.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in research, analytics, marketing, statistics, health informatics, or a related field.

  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of progressively
    responsible and relevant experience in data analysis, customer
    research, healthcare analytics, or digital experience analytics is required.

  • Minimum two years of experience using data analytics software such as Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, R, or Python.

  • An intermediate level understanding of database management, SQL, ETL processes, data extraction tools, and data modeling is required.

  • Experience presenting data insights through storytelling,
    visualizations, and professional deck development tailored to
    diverse audiences.

  • A strong understanding of the healthcare industry is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing customer journeys and building a 360-degree customer view is highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to gather business requirements to inform
    dashboard development is highly preferred.

  • Experience with Adobe Customer Journey Analytics or Qualtrics is preferred.
