Data Architect – Group Data Architecture
DB Global Technology is Deutsche Bank’s technology centre in Central and Eastern Europe. Since its set-up in 2013, Bucharest Technology Centre (BEX) has constantly proven its capacity to deliver global technology products and services, playing a dynamic role in the Bank’s technology transformation.

The Data Architecture team with Group Architecture is responsible for delivering enterprise wide data architecture standards, tools and change initiatives, executing in-line with the Bank’s data strategy.
- The Group Architecture team drives the development of a clear target state architecture for the Bank, together with the governance processes, supporting tools, standards and frameworks required to deliver this. This requires strong collaboration and buy-in across the Bank, working closely with federated business, infrastructure and CDI teams.
- The Data Architecture team working in Group Architecture play an important role in the delivery of the Data components of the IT strategy, defining the Data Architecture roadmap and standards and identifying opportunities for technology such as Cloud and AI
Your role will be part of a team defining steps to advance and accelerate progress towards our target Data Architecture and in meeting new regulatory requirements.
The role covers analysis/investigation (current state, problem statement, stakeholder inputs), defining and documenting the approach (management friendly overviews and more detailed requirements where appropriate) and agreeing the approach with stakeholders within the Chief Technology Office and in business aligned IT Domains.
Responsibilities
- Being part of the Data Architecture team within Group Architecture, providing strategy guidance, best practice design for the enterprise.
- Define and drive the data architecture standards and requirements for AI that need to be enabled and used
- Identity and support the creation of AI use cases focused on delivery the data architecture strategy, data governance tooling and deployment of a mesh architecture
- Identify AI/ML use cases and architect pipelines that integrate data flows, data lineage, data quality. Embed AI-powered data quality, detection and metadata enrichment to accelerate data discoverability
- Define data science roadmaps, aligning AI/ML initiatives with business goals
- Identify optimal AI integration points with Enterprise Data architecture
- Develop AI/ML capabilities for automated data classification, metadata tagging, and PII/sensitive data detection
- Establish a metadata-driven architecture that allows seamless integration of AI capabilities into governance workflows.
- Collaborate with Domain/Data architects to define and design data products optimized for analytics, scalable data platforms – enterprise-level solutions that align with data strategies, architectural principles for continuous driving towards target state data architecture
- Establish hybrid data pipelines (data virtualization, federation, cloud integration), define patterns for data migration of on-premises data workloads to GCP
- Architect scalable, secure, and cloud-native data solutions to support machine learning pipelines and model lifecycle
Skills
Experience of 7+ years in the following areas:
- Architecture, can include architectural experience linked to Application SDLC or close collaboration with Enterprise Architects
- Financial Services sector with detailed knowledge on specific banking products or functions (such as Finance, Market Risk, Business Divisions or Risk, Finance, and Treasury systems within Financial Services)
- Demonstrable experience in designing and deploying AI tooling architectures and use cases
- Expertise in data science and AI to build a scalable data mesh strategy and to embed AI-driven capabilities throughout the data lifecycle – enabling better decision-making, faster innovation and stronger governance
- Experience is data science, cloud data science tools, data mesh concepts and ability to translate architectural patterns into data science deliverables.
- Experience tools that support AI-powered data governance, such as: Collibra, Informatica
- Experience with automated data lineage, metadata management, and ML-enhanced data quality practices
- Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable and secure enterprise solutions, considering performance, reliability, and security aspects, leveraging detailed data modelling and data architecture skills with Data Mesh and Data Product patterns
- Experience with GCP data solutions (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataplex), experience with defining hybrid data pipelines and residency requirements for hybrid data architecture
- You will have an understanding of data management principles, including data governance, data quality, and data integration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Able to work closely with architecture and delivery stakeholders balancing principles and business requirements/constraints
- Skilled at defining outcomes and benefits to build business cases and get buy-in from stakeholders to progress delivery of complex change
- Experience of breaking down complex issues into smaller items allowing incremental progress and benefits
- Understanding of SDLC and technology concepts to allow effective close collaboration with engineers to resolve challenges
- Structured in your approach with a mind-set built on simplicity

- English written and verbal skills are mandatory; German is an added benefit
