The CTC GmbH is a 100% daughter company of  Airbus Operations GmbH. CTC is Germany's leading centre for research and development in the field of design and production of large and complex CFRP components; with an international reputation as an expert for process development, series readiness and production optimisation. The focus of the CTC's work is the development of series technologies for the production and assembly of CFRP components in aircraft construction. Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Define and implement a parametric design study for composite components (e.g., panels, brackets), including the identification of key design variables and performance metrics.

  • Develop a comprehensive and structured 3D dataset, including the generation and annotation of 3D objects for use in surrogate model training.

  • Design and implement an automated simulation pipeline, including steps such as CAD generation, FEM meshing, boundary condition setup, and result extraction.

  • Define and support the selection and development of a surrogate AI model, considering various regression or deep learning approaches suitable for high-dimensional data.

  • Integration of an AI pipeline to train a 3D Neural Network with the generated data for training and validation.

  • Planning and implementation of initial tests to integrate new data into an existing AI model.

  • Validate the surrogate model against FEM simulations and benchmark performance using quantitative metrics.

 Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time student (d/m/w) in the fields of informatics, business engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable field of study.

  • Initial practical experience in the area of design with CAD and in the use of simulation software like Rhino, Grasshopper, Hypermesh and Abaqus would be a benefit.

  • Solid knowledge of the programming languages ​​Python and C#, would be a plus.

  • Experience in developing automatic meshing processes and using Pytorch would be a benefit.

  • Language skills: Very good English and preferably good German skills

  • You are able to work independently and on your own responsibility with high intrinsic motivation.

  • You like to have teamwork and you have good communication skills, entrepreneurial thinking and acting
