The role

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in our Food Systems Alliance, you will be at the forefront of the personalization as well as forecasting efforts of the HelloFresh Group. Our team enables our customers to get personalized menu recommendations as well as our operations teams to work just in time and just in volume through our prediction capabilities. You will be embedded in a small team of Senior Engineers and you will closely be working with our Applied Scientists as well as Data Scientists creating a virtual AI team.

We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer that also has experience in backend development and who can help us in building cutting edge AI capabilities for personalization as well as forecasting. If you enjoy working with multiple disciplines, enabling other engineers and being a thought leader, this could be the perfect role for you and you could be our missing ingredient.

What you’ll do

• Partner with data scientists and other engineers in a cross-functional team.
• Productionize Machine Learning models by building Machine Learning systems with a focus on maintainability, observability, scalability and stability.
• Ensure that we utilize best practices in Software Engineering such as CI/CD, containerization and tests wherever applicable; This includes both hands-on work and mentoring of team members.
• Drive day-to-day operations for our complex, ambiguous and large scale Machine Learning products.
• Collaborate with our business stakeholders to ensure the successful adoption of our Machine Learning products.

What you’ll bring

• A passion for solving complex business problems with machine learning within a fast-paced business environment. 
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL. Previous experience with PySpark or compiled languages (e.g. Scala, Go) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with designing and maintaining Machine Learning systems for production use cases.
• Pick up new technologies and modeling methodologies quickly while solving actual business problems.
• Interest in working with modern data science tooling such as cloud development, version control, CI/CD, Docker, model registries and a feature store.
• Ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
