Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) Engineer

We are looking for an entry-level Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) Engineer to join our team to support the design, development, and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions for next-generation Army aviation systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and data scientists on real-world problems, contributing to the research, development, and deployment of intelligent systems in support of Army modernization goals. The candidate will assist in building AI/ML models, processing and analyzing datasets, and developing tools and scripts that enable system-level integration and performance. This position is ideal for recent graduates who are passionate about AI/ML and want to gain hands-on experience in a mission-focused environment.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Contribute to the development and testing of AI/ML models and algorithms, including applications in computer vision, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.
• Support data preprocessing, feature engineering, and visualization tasks using modern data science libraries and tools.
• Assist with the design and maintenance of machine learning pipelines, including model training, validation, and deployment.
• Work with senior engineers and researchers to implement and evaluate AI/ML strategies. Learn and apply AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to technical documentation and presentations. Collaborate with software engineers and system integrators to test AI/ML models in larger systems.
• Support DevOps workflows and learn to use containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Maintain awareness of DoD AI/ML standards, cybersecurity practices, and responsible AI principles.
• Other duties as assigned.

At a minimum you should have:

• An active SECRET security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Academic or internship experience in AI/ML, including coursework or projects focused on deep learning, neural networks, or related topics.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with some experience in C++ or Java being a plus.
• Familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data science tools (e.g., NumPy, pandas, matplotlib).
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning.
• Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development practices.
• Interest in government or defense applications of AI/ML technologies.
• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

You will be highly desirable if you have:

• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms like AWS or Google Cloud for AI/ML.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity and data protection practices.
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools like Jira or Asana.
• Exposure to continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) concepts.
• Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) AI initiatives or directives is a plus.

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000
