Role

As a Technical Lead Manager specializing in robotics perception and grasp planning, you will guide a team of engineers and researchers who are focused on developing the capabilities that enable robots to understand their environment and interact effectively with objects. You will contribute technical expertise to challenges in processing sensor data to build representations of the world and designing methods for robots to identify, approach, and securely pick up items, especially in complex settings like cluttered bins. This includes setting technical direction for the team, mentoring team members in their work, overseeing the implementation and testing of new systems, and collaborating with other teams to integrate these technologies into our platform. Your efforts will help make sophisticated robotic manipulation tasks reliable and accessible for real-world industrial applications.

How your work moves the mission forward

  • Lead the team in developing and implementing advanced perception and grasp planning algorithms.
  • Guide the technical approach for using perception data to enhance grasp planning efficiency.
  • Direct the creation of methodologies and tools for generating and utilizing synthetic data for training manipulation models.
  • Mentor engineers and researchers to foster technical growth and expertise in robotics manipulation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate perception and grasping capabilities into the platform.
  • Oversee the testing and validation of robotic manipulation systems in simulation and on hardware

Skills you will need to be successful

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in robotics software development or research.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers or researchers.
  • Proficiency programming in C++ or Python.
  • Knowledge of robotics perception or manipulation algorithms.
  • Experience working with robot hardware or simulation environments.

Skills that will differentiate your candidacy

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience specifically in robotic grasp planning.
  • Expertise in deep learning, including transformer-based approaches for robotics.
  • Experience generating or utilizing synthetic data for machine learning in robotics.
  • Experience delivering complex robotics systems to production.
  • Publications in relevant robotics conferences or journals.
