At Statista, we’re all about facts and data, for we are the world's leading business data platform. By providing reliable and easy-to-use data as well as various data analytics products and services, we empower people worldwide to make fact-based decisions.

Founded in Hamburg in 2007, we have quickly grown into a global company with offices in major cities such as London, New York, Berlin and Tokyo. And we still have a lot of plans. Our constant growth does not only prove our success, but also keeps creating new development and career opportunities for our employees.

We value and celebrate our diverse culture. You are welcome here for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or whether you prefer bar graphs to pie charts. Your story matters – keep writing it as part of our team.

Are you ready to join us?

Join Statista’s Data Production division and own the taxonomy that powers one of the world’s largest platforms for data and statistics.

You will contribute to Statista’s mission to build an automated, at-scale production machine for high-value data – empowering global corporates, decision-makers, and AI builders alike.

As our Data Harmonization & Taxonomy Specialist, you’ll define how Statista classifies and connects data across thousands of topics, sources, and output channels. You’ll work in our Data Operations team – and play a central role in making our data usable, discoverable, scalable, and AI-ready.

Responsibilities

  • Own our internal data catalogue and define the taxonomy for all data we produce – you are the gatekeeper and architect of our semantic structure.

  • Define and evolve our controlled vocabularies and taxonomies based on: Search, platform, API needs, data producer requirements, your own initiatives to improve discoverability and product quality

  • Monitor and continuously improve harmonization across our entire data landscape – from geography and industry to metrics and product categories.

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Provisioning Engineering, and customer-facing teams to ensure alignment and adoption across systems.

  • Help build the foundations of metadata governance, internal taxonomy tooling, and (longer-term) ontology-driven data structures and knowledge graphs.

  • Contribute to shaping our taxonomy tech stack and automation capabilities – your ideas will directly impact how we scale.

  • (Optional) Work hands-on with Python and related tooling to drive automation and system integration.

Skills

  • You love thinking in hierarchies, semantics, and structures – and take pride in systems that scale.

  • You balance long-term clarity with pragmatic decisions that drive product value today.

  • You’re a systems thinker and strong communicator – equally comfortable discussing schema design with engineers and logic trade-offs with product managers.

  • You have strong project and stakeholder management skills: prioritizing effectively, driving initiatives from idea to rollout, and building alignment across teams.

  • You have experience with data catalogues, taxonomies, or metadata governance – or you’re eager to build that expertise from the ground up.

  • You’re excited to shape how a global data company structures its most valuable asset: its data.

  • You enjoy working independently yet collaboratively, structured in approach but hands-on in execution – with a “we win together” mindset.

What we offer

In addition to our great team, culture, and our shared goal of empowering people with data, there are many other things that make Statista a great place to work! Join us and benefit from:

  • Work from abroad 10 days a year (up to 30 if your family lives abroad)

  • Hybrid work and flex-time

  • International team and social events

  • Career & training opportunities

  • Attractive locations and modern offices

  • Mental health support with OpenUp
