Position Overview

Join XTEL as a Knowledge Graph Data Architect to help design and implement the data foundation for our AI-driven systems. Contribute to building and maintaining our enterprise knowledge graph, integrating data from multiple sources and supporting advanced search, reasoning, and LLM-powered applications. Collaborate with ontology engineers and AI teams to bridge business needs and semantic architecture. This is a hands-on role ideal for a technically strong professional ready to grow into a leadership track.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Knowledge Graph Data Architect at XTEL, you will:

• Design and maintain graph-based data models that support intelligent search, reasoning, and interaction.

• Integrate data from diverse sources (structured and unstructured) into the knowledge graph using scalable ingestion pipelines.

• Collaborate with ontology engineers to align semantic models with underlying data infrastructure.

• Implement and optimize knowledge graph systems using tools such as GraphDB, Neo4j, Stardog, or Amazon Neptune.

• Develop and run queries using SPARQL, Cypher, or similar languages to support internal tools and AI features.

• Contribute to architectural decisions related to graph schema, indexing, versioning, and performance optimization.

• Work closely with AI Engineers to expose the graph to LLM agents and other intelligent systems.

• Stay informed about trends in graph technologies, semantic data integration, and hybrid AI systems.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.

• 3–5 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or backend development with a focus on graph data or semantic technologies.

• Hands-on experience with at least one knowledge graph or graph database platform (e.g., RDF triple stores, property graphs).

• Familiarity with graph query languages like SPARQL or Cypher.

• Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, and semantic data modeling.

• Understanding of the role of ontologies and semantics in AI-driven systems.

• Advanced proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to reasoning engines or semantic enrichment pipelines.

• Experience integrating LLMs or AI agents with graph-based systems.

Location Preferences:

Our headquarters is located in Casalecchio di Reno, Bologna, and we offer hybrid work arrangements. While we prioritize candidates who are based in Bologna and the surrounding areas for hybrid work, we are open to considering other options on a case-by-case basis.
