AI System Architect-Foundation Software

Location: Pisa, Italy /  (direct contract/consultant)

Position Overview

The Pisa Research Center is Huawei's cutting-edge R&D hub for automotive intelligence, dedicated to developing next-generation AI-powered intelligent driving and in-vehicle experiences.

We are seeking a technical visionary with pioneering contributions and outstanding influence in the AI systems domain to lead our international R&D team. As a recognized authority in this field, you will spearhead breakthrough AI foundation technologies, solve the industry's most challenging technical problems, and establish new standards for automotive AI computing platforms.

Core Responsibilities

• AI Inference System Strategy - Lead the architecture planning and technology roadmap for edge AI inference systems, driving industry technical direction and supporting Huawei's leadership in automotive AI
• Large Model Deployment Architecture - Tackle key technical challenges for large AI model deployment in resource-constrained environments, solving inference efficiency and performance challenges in automotive scenarios
• AI System Reliability Research - Develop automotive-grade AI system reliability and security frameworks, establish automotive AI system safety standards, and support critical intelligent driving applications
• Heterogeneous Computing Optimization - Create AI acceleration architectures for various computing platforms including Ascend and Kunpeng, breakthrough performance bottlenecks, and achieve competitive advantages
• AI Foundation Software Ecosystem - Plan AI foundation software technology roadmaps and ecosystem development, build open innovation platforms, and form long-term technical competitive advantages

Professional Requirements

• Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields
• 5+ years of professional experience in AI system architecture or system optimization
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Python programming languages
• Experience in AI foundation software development, such as edge inference engines, model optimization, quantization, or compiler optimization
• Familiarity with mainstream deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow/PyTorch) and edge inference frameworks
• Practical experience in AI edge inference engine development and optimization
• Knowledge of heterogeneous computing (CPU/NPU/GPU) environments for AI acceleration optimization
• Understanding of automotive electronics architecture and intelligent cockpit/autonomous driving system requirements
• Fluent English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields
• Ideally 10+ years of in-depth professional experience in AI system architecture or system optimization
• Publications in top-tier conferences (such as NeurIPS, ICLR, OSDI, ASPLOS) or technological patents
• Participation in the development of renowned AI frameworks or inference engines
• Contributions in AI compiler optimization, neural network acceleration, or model compression
• In-depth research in AI inference reliability, security, or privacy protection
• Outstanding technical leadership skills with ability to guide technical teams toward significant breakthroughs
• Experience working in large multinational companies
