Coop Intern – Product Content Development (12 months - September 2025 - Remote/Ottawa/Montreal)

How You Will Contribute:

What do we do and what will you do?

• The Product Content Development team researches, plans, creates, develops, writes, edits, and updates a variety of software and hardware documentation, including product descriptions, installation manuals, operation and administration manuals, user guides, and reference guides.
• We leverage best-in-class solutions, including generative AI (Gen AI), to optimize our development processes and deliver content that enables customer success.

Tasks may include:

• Research and explore best practices in documenting for Gen AI
• Collaborate with senior technical writers on technical publication objectives
• Work with our Content Strategy team on tools or process improvements
• Transforming content to/from DITA XML
• FrameMaker documentation updates for structured topic-based DITA
• Test and improve publication processes

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience with Gen AI tools, such as ChatGPT
• Working proficiency of Adobe FrameMaker or an equivalent DITA XML authoring tool
• Experience programming or scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Python, XSLT)
• Excellent communication skills
• Detailed oriented and organized
• Ability to transition between changing priorities and requirements
• Proficient in problem solving and exercising good judgment

Pay Range: The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
