Our team is diverse, with skillsets and responsibilities ranging from graphic design, content creation and performance marketing to internal communications and loyalty & rewards programs. We work together to provide expertise and guidance, so that the Staples brand is well represented in all areas. 

 

Staples is seeking an experienced Customer Data Platform Data Operations Manager to join our Staples Marketing Sciences & Operations team. This role will focus on managing data inputs and outputs through our Customer Data Platform, the central hub for all omnichannel marketing planning, execution and reporting. The Customer Data Platform is one of many growth areas connected with Staples’ ongoing digital transformation. The Marketing Sciences & Operations team manages Customer Intelligence, Consumer Insights, Data Sciences, Marketing Operations, Marketing Effectiveness, and Lead Management for Staples B2B and B2C customers.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist with data necessary to enable customer segments for personalized campaigns.
  • Build processes for ingesting raw data from multiple sources into the CDP.
  • Ensure raw data is cleaned and transformed into usable formats.
  • Design schemas within the CDP to support various use cases.
  • Develop methods for resolving customer identities across different touchpoints.
  • Determine first- and third-party data needs to enhance CDP personalization and meet audience, segment, journey and outcome goals.
  • Build scalable ETL pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow or AWS Glue.
  • Troubleshoot issues and ensure seamless integration of new data sources.
  • Work closely with teams such as Marketing, Sales, and IT/Engineering to ensure data integrity and integration.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in Marketing and Sales Technology, particularly with respect to CDPs and related technologies.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data trends.
  • Ability to work across multiple teams including IT, marketing, analytics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Passionate about Marketing Technology and its role in driving digital transformation. 
  • Proven track record of managing data within and external to a Customer Data Platform and related technologies to support personalized marketing scenarios, as well as adopting new features for innovation.
  • Ability to use data and metrics to optimize performance and demonstrate ROI.

 

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, related field or equivalent work history.
  • 7+ years of marketing data experience
  • 1+ year of experience in CDP (Customer Data Platform) data operations.
  • Deep understanding of Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and marketing technologies such as Hightouch, Action IQ, Treasure Data, Adobe Experience Platform, Twilio Segment, Salesforce Data Cloud, etc.
  • Experience with ETL processes and tools.
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with AWS or GCP.
  • Experience integrating various APIs.

 

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real-time streaming tools (e.g., Kafka, Apache Beam).
  • Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience implementing identity resolution, audience segmentation, or personalization strategies using a CDP.
  • Certification in CDP platforms or cloud data architecture.
