This role will provide technical specific development skills and experience to the following product portfolios: Data Engineering; Data Platform Development; Data Analytics; Data Architecture.
The Data Platform Delivery team will provide data engineering capabilities (extraction, storage, retention, cataloging, classification, modelling, cleansing, staging, aggregation, summarization, mining, predictive modelling, analysis, forecasting, optimization, reporting, visualization) to the organization. The purpose of this role is to combine these responsibilities into a new and more structured role, which would add relevant experience and leadership skills to better deliver various solutions in the areas of BI and analytics. This may also require the knowledge of scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from a variety of structured and unstructured data.
- Build end-to-end cloud-based data pipelines and data products, including creating and assembling large, complex datasets to meet functional and non-functional business requirements and user stories
- Familiar with relational and non-relational databases, data warehouses, lakehouse
- Experience with ETL (extract, transform, load) tools, processes, and related concepts using Cloud and SQL technologies
- Experience with Cloud IaaS, PaaS, SaaS stacks (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems (DevOps)
- Identify data issues and perform root cause analysis
- Use the latest concepts in data architecture, and standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experienced with Structured/unstructured data systems – MS SQL, Oracle SQL, Cloudera, MariaDB, etc.
- Develop and test Data Analytics prototypes, proof of concepts, pilots and production builds for business improvement plans and business cases that aim to understand and improve on the performance and success metrics through the analysis, processing and reporting of data that is collected through business processes and systems.
- Processes to determine technical design, develop and test code, and document and implement software solutions
- Design, build and deploy Business Intelligence (BI) components of solutions using reporting platforms such as Qlik, Power BI, Power Apps and Tableau
- Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
- Develop, test and support applications as needed, either individually or as part of a team, including the modification of existing programs to conform to system changes, or to make improvements in the existing program
- Review all programs prior to implementation to verify consistency and conformance with established departmental guidelines, policies and practices, as well as industry standard guidelines
- Lead the technical analysis, program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation, with full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming
- Proficiency in developing applications and tools with programming and scripting languages – JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, SQL, Java, Python, etc.
- Creates prototypes/proof-of-concept to demonstrate or validate designs.
- Ability to translate business needs to technical specifications, clearly communicate advanced technical topics with non-technical audiences and to work effectively with support teams, user communities and application development groups.
- Mentor and provide knowledge of best practices to developers and analysts on software development. · Facilitate collaboration with other developers, product owners, product teams and designers to solve interesting and challenging problems through delivery of various analytics solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills
- Familiarity with Agile Software Development is an asset
- Completion of a degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Experience in Software development, as a Technical Lead, Senior Software Engineer, Project
- leader

- Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses to be used by Operations to identify and measure performance improvement and by management to identify opportunities for meeting and exceeding strategic goals and targets.
