Hardware Systems & Modeling Engineer – µAI Architectures (P4)
Level: P4 (staff Engineer)
Location: Boston, MA
Team: Frontier AI Initiative
Role summary: Lead the modeling, simulation, and evaluation of novel µAI compute systems with an emphasis on novel AI compute techniques, such as (but not limited to) analog MACs, charge-based processors, in-memory compute, and neuromorphic hardware. This role supports architectural exploration and external technology vetting for ADI’s strategic roadmap.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate third-party IP and startup platforms, including validate vendor claims and produce PPA comparison reports.
- Develop system-level models (SystemC/C++/Python) for analog and neuromorphic compute primitives.
- Simulate and benchmark novel AI compute architectures such as analog MACs and event-driven architectures for latency and power.
- Analyze integration paths into ADI’s sensor signal chains, including AFE + AI co-design considerations.
- Contribute to technical diligence for licensing or co-development decisions.
Ideal profile
- Background in SoC modeling, architectural simulation, and system-level benchmarking.
- Familiarity with novel AI compute architectures, such as analog compute modeling, spiking neural networks, or in-memory AI.
- Hands-on experience working with FPGAs, testbenches, or startup silicon prototypes.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and distill complex tradeoffs into clear recommendations.
