About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the architecture of XDNA’s data-driven solutions. You’ll ensure data is effectively collected, stored, and organised for seamless querying and analysis, helping to power our solutions. With the support of the Solutions Implementation Manager, you'll take charge of data engineering needs, whether leading projects independently or collaborating with a broader team. This role will be full time permanent. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute efficient data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading data.
• Develop and uphold data integration and quality processes.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to meet evolving data needs.
• Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive information.
• Monitor and enhance data system performance, leveraging industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Create and maintain ETL/ELT solutions using both code-based and low-code platforms.
• Design and analyse algorithms for structured and unstructured data, including records, text, images, video, and audio.
• Foster strong relationships and act as a trusted influencer in delivering impactful data-driven solutions.

About You 

• Must have 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
• Must be an Australian and have the ability to get an Australian Government Security Clearance
• Must have exceptional communication and relationship skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
• Must have a deep understanding of the data lifecycle, tailored to the needs of data scientists, analysts, and machine learning engineers.
• Must be able to contribute positively to the development of XDNA’s culture and act as a mentor in fostering growth.
• Must have a comprehensive understanding of data modelling techniques (e.g., Kimball, Inmon, and Data Vault) and their practical applications.
• Must have commercial experience using Databricks (e.g. Databricks workflow, Delta Live Tables (DLT), Unity Catalog, etc) in a data project.
• Must be competent with Python and SQL, with the ability to diagnose bottlenecks of Python (particularly Pyspark) and/or SQL scripts.
• Exposure to Azure services (e.g. Function/Logic apps, Azure Data Factory, etc) is highly desirable.
• Exposure to Java or any other programming languages is highly desirable.
• Experience with setting up and utilizing CI/CD pipelines in a data project is highly desirable.
• Experience in processing unstructured data such as binary objects, images and video is highly desirable.
• Exposure to Machine Learning Operations tools, methods and techniques is highly desirable
