The Job

CNN is seeking a Data Scientist to join our growth analytics team and become a subject expert on user’s likelihood to convert and retain for CNN’s digital subscription products. They will be instrumental in understanding the rollout of our dynamic subscription wall on CNN’s existing digital content. This individual should be self-motivated, work well independently and as part of a team, and be passionate about what they do.

The Daily 

The Data Scientist will:

• Partner with Product to support and refine the logic behind our dynamic paywall.
• Build predictive models to refine understanding around churn and customer lifetime value.
• Perform granular customer journey analysis in SQL to identify points of unnecessary friction and find opportunities to proactively message users.
• Support the design and execution of A/B tests and other experiments related to acquisition and retention.
• Collaborate with internal data teams to enhance our customer data and targeting capabilities.
• Translate business needs into data science solutions and communicate findings to stakeholders and leadership.
• Present analysis to business partners and senior leadership and make product launch recommendations
• Define and document key growth metrics and decisioning logic for consistency and transparency.

The Essentials 

• BA/BS in statistics, mathematics, economics, operations research, or other quantitative discipline is required.
• 2+ years of experience in data science.
• Significant experience using SQL to explore and analyze large data sets in cloud environments 
• Experience in Python or R
• Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools (such as Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc.) 
• Experience with providing data requirements while working with structured and unstructured data sets 
• A proven track record of providing actionable insights that drive business impact in the form of revenue or profit.

• Comfortable communicating with a diverse set of backgrounds, seniority levels, and knowledge sets, particularly in translating complex data concepts to strategic recommendations
• A self-starter who is passionate about getting data, using data, making sense of data, and helping others benefit from making analytics driven decisions 

Nice-to-Haves 

• Experience in customer journey analytics and clustering.
• Experience working with subscription products and analytics.
• Strong background in experimentation and statistics

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $82,610.00 - $153,418.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
