Job Description & Summary

As an Associate Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll support the FS AI team in building data-driven solutions. You’ll work under the guidance of senior engineers and data scientists—gaining hands-on experience in model development, deployment, and Responsible AI practices—while contributing to value-creating projects across the Firm.

Responsibilities 

 

• Assist in designing and developing data science and ML components for PwC and client projects 

• Write, test and document code modules for our Data Science codebase 

• Support end-to-end ML pipelines: data collection, preprocessing, model training and evaluation 

• Help deploy and monitor models in production, escalating issues around performance or reliability 

• Contribute to embedding Responsible AI ensuring fairness, transparency, explainability, bias mitigation and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards 

• Collaborate on proposals, project plans and business cases  

• Prepare clear summaries of your work and present in team meetings  

• Continuously learn through on-the-job mentoring, training sessions and self-study 

Key Skills Required 

• Statistical Analysis & Machine Learning Theory (Intermediate): 

• Work with standard statistical tests and basic ML algorithms (linear regression, decision trees). 

• Understand core concepts: bias–variance tradeoff, overfitting, evaluation metrics. 

• Machine Learning Lifecycle Management (Intermediate): 

• Contribute to data pipelines (feature engineering, train/test splits) and help with model validation. 

• Assist in model packaging, basic deployment scripts and routine performance checks. 

• Traditional Statistical Modeling & Classical ML (Intermediate): 

• Hands-on practice fitting and interpreting regression and classification models. 

• Apply clustering or dimensionality-reduction methods under supervision. 

• Python Programming (Intermediate): 

• Write clear, maintainable Python code using pandas, NumPy and scikit-learn. 

• Debug basic issues, write unit tests for your modules and manage dependencies. 

• SQL Querying & Data Manipulation (Intermediate): 

• Extract, filter and join tables from relational databases. 

• Perform straightforward ETL tasks and debug simple query performance issues. 

• Version Control & Git (Intermediate): 

• Use feature branches, open pull requests and fix merge conflicts. 

• Follow established branching and review workflows. 

• Data Science Communication (Intermediate): 

• Create basic charts and slide decks that explain your analysis and model results. 

• Present your work to peers and ask clarifying questions to non-technical stakeholders. 

• Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing (Intermediate): 

• Contribute to peer reviews, share learnings in brown-bag sessions and ask for feedback. 

• Pair-program with seniors to absorb best practices. 

Nice to have 

• Generative AI & Transformer Models (Foundational): 

• Familiarity with using pre-trained language models (e.g. GPT, BERT) for simple fine-tuning tasks. 

• Deep Learning Frameworks (Foundational): 

• Basic exposure to TensorFlow or PyTorch (e.g. building a small neural network). 

• Cloud Computing Platforms (Foundational): 

• Experience with one cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP) to spin up VMs or managed notebook instances.
