Position Overview:

Marathon's Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, TX has an opening for a RBI Analyst. We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual for an opening to collaborate with Inspection and other refining personnel to ensure the mechanical integrity and reliability of the refinery operating units.

Responsibilities include assessing inspection findings, proactively identifying areas of concern, and offering corrective options before a problem impacts production.

This position will be based out of Marathon Petroleum’s Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support for updating and implementing Risk-based Inspection (RBI) strategies.
  • Revalidate RBI databases at established intervals to comply with MCP standard practices.
  • Work with contract companies to develop and implement RBI databases, Integrity Operating Windows and Corrosion Control Documents.
  • Update RBI database and Corrosion and Material Diagrams as changes are made through MI projects, revamps, turnarounds and new construction.
  • Train Area Inspectors on RBI inspection effectiveness grading, methodology and inspection planning.
  • Review and approve RBI grading of all completed inspection tasks.
  • Approve RBI driven inspection plans to minimize or eliminate non-value added inspections.
  • Develop evergreening strategy for inspection & engineering to maintain the RBI, IOW and CCD databases.
  • Work with the APM Coordinator to create useable RBI dash boards and database for the Area Inspectors.
  • Facilitates and/or participates in corrosion studies to assist in solving material degradation problems.
  • Networks with Corporate reliability groups including the Corrosion & Materials Advisory Group (CMAG) and Risk-based Inspection Work Group (RBIWG).

Education and Experience:

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date).
  • Minimum of 5 years inspection experience in Fixed Equipment, Reliability & Maintenance.
  • Experience with conducting risk assessments, and supporting inspection or corrosion engineering activities.
  • RBI experience with implementation of a new program or an existing program.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, enter towers, examine remote equipment, and work within confined spaces.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or knowledge with API 510, API 570, API 653, API 571, API 580, API 581, NBIC.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering or Corrosion Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • GE Meridium (APM) V5 experience.
