Mō te Tūranga | About the Role 

We sat down with our Head of Advanced Analytics, who let us know the following about the role:

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Assist in the development of statistical and mathematical models using a variety of rigorous techniques 

  • Adhere to robust modelling processes and follow the internal governance / risk framework 

  • Support BNZ Analytics to deliver on their key strategic outputs with commercial outcomes 

  • Support development of machine learning capability within BNZ 

  • Support bank-wide data science; including segmentation frameworks, predictive models and analytics for insights development 

What is the team culture and environment like?

What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?

This person will be curious, have a growth mindset, show initiative, and work collaboratively with others. They must be someone who is technically strong and documents their work well.

  • Background in statistical analysis and modelling techniques over large data sets
  • Evidence of researching, constructing and validating accurate models
  • Basic level of programming in Python/R/Spark
  • Knowledge of big data environments (Hadoop/Cloud)
