The University of Oklahoma (OU) is embarking on a transformational endeavor to grow the newly established OU Polytechnic Institute (OUPI). The aims are to further strengthen the educational landscape of the state, provide students with a unique educational experience that will enable them to be successful throughout their careers and respond to industry's need for a well-educated, highly skilled and adaptable workforce to meet current and future needs.  This position will begin the newly announced extension of the OUPI from Tulsa at the OU-Tulsa Schusterman Center campus to include the Norman Campus as a part of the Gallogly College of Engineering (GCoE). Enrollment for the inaugural class in applied artificial intelligence began this past November and classes will start in August 2025. The position is expected to be a 9-month appointment with the option for 3 additional months of support.

OUPI seeks applicants for a full-time rank renewable term Associate or Full Professor position with teaching emphasis in applied artificial intelligence, applied computing, and related fields beginning August 2025. We seek a teaching-focused scholar in applied AI, applied computing, or related areas who is eager to mentor students and help launch new degree programs. The successful candidate will lead curriculum innovation, communicate effectively, collaborate eagerly with colleagues, and show genuine empathy toward students. Scholarly creativity may span pedagogical research, curriculum design, recruitment and retention, or K-12 outreach, with outputs such as conference presentations or education-journal publications.

We seek candidates who are excited to contribute to the goals of our strategic growth and foster a welcoming environment in all aspects of faculty responsibility, including within the classroom and the academic community, and within their professional commitments.  Information about OUPI is available at https://www.ou.edu/polytechnic
