Job Description
A key function of this role is ensuring efficient data operations for the MBA Program Office while collaborating with Wharton Computing and the Graduate Division Data Science team to enhance and maintain the platforms used for academic operations. The Data Coordinator will oversee data integrity, process automation, and system improvements to streamline workflows and improve efficiency across the MBA Program Office. Additionally, this role will work with Admissions, Student Life, Career Management, External Affairs, Academic Departments, and the University Registrar to manage institutional data projects.
Given its broad scope, the position requires handling student data from matriculation to graduation and working closely with the MBA Program Office's Records Coordinator to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with University policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct data support to the Director of Academic Operations, ensuring seamless execution of academic processes.
- Produce statistical analyses and ad-hoc reports for course management, program planning, degree auditing, and survey management.
- Collaborate with Wharton Computing and the Graduate Division Data Science team to optimize and support the platforms they develop, ensuring seamless data integration and usability.
- Work with Wharton Computing to manage and enhance a suite of data products used by the MBA Program Office.
- Develop and maintain automated data processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
- Act as a liaison for data-related projects, working with stakeholders such as Admissions, Career Management, Student Life, External Affairs, Academic Departments, and the University Registrar.
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance with FERPA regulations, maintaining high standards for data integrity and security.
- Cross-train with the MBA Program Office's Records Coordinator to provide coverage as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Technical expertise: Strong familiarity with database querying, including proficiency using Snowflake, SAP Business Objects and SQL developer required.
- Data analysis & visualization: Intermediate to advanced skills in statistics, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) required.
- Programming proficiency: Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation and analysis is highly preferred.
- Higher education systems knowledge: Familiarity with platforms such as Banner, Salesforce, and Degree Works is highly preferred.
- Process automation: Experience improving workflows through automation, scripting, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, VBA coding) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment required.
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement required.
