The Global Internal Audit team is tasked with assessing the financial and operational integrity of the global law firm’s activities. In alignment with the Firm's culture and vision, the internal audit function is expected to be consultative in nature delivering modern, data-driven, agile, and innovative assurance and advisory services. This includes conducting reviews across offices and regions, covering operational, financial, regulatory, and policy-related areas, as well as addressing ad hoc requests. This position reports to the NY based Audit Team.
This position seeks a critical thinker who is a data-driven professional to perform both traditional audit procedures and data analysis activities. This role combines traditional audit responsibilities, including reviewing policies, testing attributes and transactions, validating documentation, and summarizing results, with data analytics responsibilities, such as leveraging and/or developing dashboards, performing standard and ad hoc analyses using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and/or SQL, and supporting data-driven initiatives in continuous monitoring, audit testing, and documentation.
Responsibilities include executing traditional audit procedures daily in addition to supporting innovative audit procedures, monitoring, and approaches utilizing data analysis techniques.
Our Functional Area The Global Finance team is led by the Firm’s CFO, Steve Wrede, and is made up of approximately 280 team members around the world. Committed to our 2020 strategy for profitable growth, our core functions include billing and collecting Firm invoices, statutory accounting for the Firm and for individual offices, creating and distributing management reports, processing payments to vendors or reimbursements to employees and managing payroll for our people. Together, we work seamlessly across our network of offices and countries where we operate. Ours is a multicultural and supportive team, where everyone’s contribution is welcome and where we share a mutual ambition to achieve our goals and take the Firm from strength to strength. Our team’s remit includes partner compensation and the maintenance of partner equity accounts; strategic procurement of vendor services; global tax strategies; inventory management, and finally analysis of the profitability of clients, matters and groups of timekeeper. We work with partners and with other business services groups to establish hourly billing rates as well as client-specific fee arrangements. Our Treasury team is responsible for global cash management, foreign currencies and hedging. In consultation with Firm leaders, we set annual global revenue and expense budgets across Regional Sections and offices, including legal and business service departments. The team continuously reviews expenditures throughout the year to ensure that the Firm’s resources are being used efficiently. Duties and Accountabilities1Traditional Audit Responsibilities:
¨ Day-to-day execution of traditional audit procedures, documentation of workpapers, evaluating transactions against policies and testing attributes for deviations.
¨ Document workflows (leveraging Microsoft Visio) of business processes based on discussions with stakeholders for purposes process understanding and workpaper documentation.
¨ Comply with established protocols and procedures to ensure the quality of Internal Audit deliverables.
¨ Effectively read and interpret information, skillfully gather, analyze, and present numerical data in a resourceful manner.
¨ Contribute to the development and refinement of the firm’s internal audit framework, testing, and reports
Data Analysis Responsibilities:
¨ Focus on the departments data analysis initiatives, including feeding, care and enhancement of existing analyses and dashboards (Tableau or Power BI), in addition to the innovative creation and development of new dashboards used for continuous monitoring & testing.
¨ Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business performance; stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data analytics.
¨ Utilize existing and build ad hoc datasets using SQL and Excel to support the team in creating Tableau or PowerBI reports & dashboards
¨ Understand the key data structures and data definitions that are available, and identify ways to share your knowledge within the broader Internal Audit team
¨ Identify and recommend improvements to data collection and analysis processes to ensure data quality and accuracy.
Qualifications
¨ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computing, Information Science, or any related fields
¨ 3 to 5 years of experience in Auditing, Data Analytics, Finance, and/or Accounting at a large professional services firm a plus
¨ At least 1 year experience in Reporting and Analytics or similar roles using systems such as: Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and SQL (a plus)
