Reporting to the Director, Data Governance, this job will support the delivery and reporting on key investment, financial reporting, performance and risk measurement data governance initiatives, for the investment products and markets that OMERS Capital Markets trades in.

Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
Operate as a dual project lead and business analyst for projects focused on improving how data is received from our vendors and/or generated through our key applications
Collaborate with operational and investment teams to gather and analyze requirements (e.g. business process mapping, user requirements for systems, data mapping & lineage, etc.) for projects impacting the quality and consistency of OMERS investment data sets
Develop relationships and influence change across data users, stewards and custodians, promoting a culture of transparency, collaboration, and service excellence
Learn and apply effective change management techniques (e.g., stakeholder management, meeting facilitation, communications, etc.) to ensure adoption of new processes, behaviors and mindsets
Ensure projects are well-scoped, managed and delivered and bi-weekly progress reporting is completed in a timely manner for our Business Operations team
Data Management and Accuracy:
Assist with improving data accuracy, integrity, and availability by analyzing, monitoring and recommending options to resolve production data and platform issues
Contribute to the development and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for data governance policies, standards, and procedures, including creating user guides, process flows, and policy documents
Assist with developing and tracking metrics to measure the effectiveness of data governance processes and identify areas for improvement
Design and develop complex investment reporting (SQL, SSRS, OLAP, Power BI, etc.)
Support and facilitate data governance forums, such as a Data Quality & Issue Management forum
Qualifications:
Experience & Education
5+ years of experience, with a minimum 2 years related to data governance implementation and/or data quality improvement initiatives
Bachelor’s Degree in related fields such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, and Economics
Professional development in any of the following areas is considered an asset: capital markets investing or investment analysis / reporting (or in a similar field), data management, data science, process improvement and project delivery methodologies
Technical Expertise
Investment Products: Knowledge of the investment lifecycle and relevant data domains for exchange traded and OTC products, including exotic instruments & related private investments
Business analysis: Expert knowledge of practices (e.g. requirements elicitation, business process modeling, user stories, source to target mapping etc.)
Databases & data design: Demonstrated knowledge of SQL and relational databases and/or knowledge of ETL/ELT tools and design patterns
