The US Model Risk Management (MRM) team is responsible for defining and maintaining the Model Risk Management framework within the Combined US Operations (CUSO). Model Risk has become a fundamental piece in Risk Management since the issuance of the Federal Reserve Bank Guidelines for Model Risk Management SR11-7. MRM has drawn more visibility within the Bank and amongst regulators as the Bank’s inventory of models expands. As such, the MRM Consultant will assist in maintaining policy, procedures, reporting, escalating model risks and controls and addressing all regulatory and audit deficiencies. This role involves working closely and collaboratively with Global Model Validation, model development, model owners and model users to manage model risk.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be joining CIBC’s US Model Risk Management team. You’ll help safeguard our clients, brand and reputation by providing expert advice on all measures of risk. As a Consultant, you’ll work closely with business leaders and Risk Management partners to identify, measure, monitor, and control risk. You’ll use your expertise in technology and operations to provide guidance to business partners and ensure CIBC continues to meet the standards for enterprise risk.

How you'll succeed
Model Risk Management (MRM) Database - Maintain the current MRM model performance monitoring and model inventory databases to ensure accuracy and functionality. Work with management to expand usage of the database for business intelligence. Work with management to expand data elements and functionality for usage by US Model Validation.
Risk Reporting – Support risk reporting for different lines of business. Identify technology risk priorities, industry best practices, and emerging trends in risk mitigation strategies. Proactively respond to any inquiries and stay up-to-date on the latest tools and information that can help reduce our enterprise risk.
Governance support – Proactively contribute to governance initiatives, providing business and risk advice, as well as insight on management processes. Minimize the business’s exposure to risk by ensuring our business and partners are meeting compliance and regulatory standards.

Who you are
You have relevant work experience. You have 2-3 years of experience in risk management in banking, financial services, and/or a related industry. You have experience maintaining reporting databases in SQL Server or Databricks.

You have proficiency with query languages such as SQL and Python. Experience with other query language such as R or SAS are a plus. You have a masters degree/diploma in in Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Statistics, Data Analytics and/or a related field of study.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $80,000 - 95,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
