We are a beauty start-up founded in 2020 and located in the heart of Berlin. Our team is composed of over 90 brilliant human beings who came from all over the world to write Yepoda’s story actively.

We’re now looking for a Head of Data (m/f/d) to grow and empower our data function while staying hands-on with technical and analytical projects. You’ll lead through collaboration, mentorship, and by delivering insights that empower teams across the business. Your goal: make analytics a true driver of business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Scale and lead the data team

• Thoughtfully grow and mentor a diverse team of analysts, engineers, and (eventually) data scientists

• Define clear roles, career paths, and team structure to support current needs and future growth

• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-impact culture where talent thrives through mentorship, shared success, and strong technical standards

• Ensure high-quality analytics and technical understanding

• Oversee and contribute to daily analytics work across forecasting, churn prediction, cohort analysis, marketing performance, and operational reporting

• Partner with teams across the business to identify evolving data needs and deliver consistent, actionable insights

• Stay close to the technical side — data models, pipelines, architecture — to ensure business decisions are grounded in solid, scalable data foundations

• Align data and business strategy

• Translate company goals into a clear, actionable data roadmap that supports product, marketing, ops, and leadership

• Ensure insights are not just developed, but clearly communicated and embedded into decision-making and product roadmaps

• Align expectations across teams, clarifying priorities, timelines, and resources

• Drive sustainable and balanced growth

• Pace the development of the data function to match business needs — evolving infrastructure, tooling, and team capacity sustainably

• Collaborate with leadership to secure the resources (people, tools, budget) needed to maintain strong data quality and business impact

• Build scalable processes and governance to ensure insight delivery is structured, reliable, and impactful

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading data teams (analytics, engineering, or science) or equivalent experience gained in e-commerce environments

• Proven experience building and scaling high-performing teams — from hiring and mentoring to setting up balanced team structures

• Deep understanding of e-commerce data and KPIs across marketing, product, and operations; experience in the beauty sector is a plus

• Strong hands-on expertise in analytics and BI (forecasting, churn modelling, cohort analysis, marketing performance)

• Solid understanding of data architecture, modelling, and pipelines using tools like Airbyte, Airflow, Fivetran, GraphQL, Kafka, REST APIs, AWS S3

• Proficiency in SQL and Python (Jupyter Notebook, pandas, numpy, pytorch, scipy, tensorflow), with experience in BigQuery or similar (Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks), dbt/dataform, and git platforms (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)

• Familiarity with platforms like Shopify, Amazon, Meta Ads, Google Analytics (GA4), and Looker Studio

• Knowledge or hands-on experience with AI projects is a plus

• Ability to align technical data solutions with business goals and make insights actionable

• A strategic mindset with the ability to pace growth and identify gaps in tools or talent

• Clear and confident communicator able to bridge technical and non-technical teams, and foster an inclusive, high-performance culture
