Senior Data Analyst, Network Analytics (12m Contract)

The Senior Data Analyst is a critical role within Optus Data Centre of Excellence providing guidance, recommendations, and insights to the business. Positioned within the Network Analytics chapter, this role uses a proactive approach to demonstrate the value of analytics and how it can be applied to drive business decisions, to improve customer outcomes, to achieve targets and to explore growth opportunities.

As a Senior Data Analyst, the primary focus will be to analyse and extract insights to support network regulatory reporting requirements. This role will require a comprehensive understanding in interpreting mobile handset and customer usage datasets to identify device compliance. By establishing automated reports and insights the aim is to provide this visibility back to the Business for action.

Your day to day will consist of...

• Conduct detailed network analysis to identify compliant and non-compliant mobile devices.
• Design and implement automated solutions for accurate regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver insights that support business decisions and ensure compliance.
• Translate business problems into actionable analysis plans across customer insights, business analysis, and advanced analytics.
• Mentor Data Analysts in data querying, analysis techniques, and effective presentation of findings.
• Develop and present well-structured recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Drive innovation using data and analytics to uncover growth opportunities and enhance customer engagement.

What makes you perfect for the role?

• Tertiary qualification in a STEM field (e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance).
• 7+ years’ experience in large, complex organisations, ideally in digital or telecommunications sectors.
• Advanced skills in SQL, Alteryx, and data wrangling; experience with structured and unstructured data sources.
• Proficient in data visualisation tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or Qlik (certifications desirable).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and insight generation capabilities.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and business acumen, with experience in Agile and Waterfall environments.
