Get to Know the Team
The Country & Marketing Analytics team helps the organization by analyzing in each of our countries our past operations and marketing initiatives, deciphering the impact on our business, our brand and our users, to augment the outcome of future initiatives.
The team works closely with various teams in Grab - Country Business, Operations, Marketing but also Engineering, Product and other Data teams, to understand data requirements, identify and track key metrics, and provide data-driven solutions that are tailored and relevant to always-evolving innovation in our markets.
Get to Know the Role
We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist (Analytics) to join our growing team in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. In this role, you will lead our data science efforts, driving innovation and delivering actionable insights to support business decision-making.
You will report to Marketing Analytics Manager II and work onsite at Grab HCMC office.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
Analytics Process Improvement:
- Study existing analytics processes to identify opportunities for refinement and implement solutions to bridge gaps.
- Plug end-to-end operations and marketing flows with existing data solutions or initiate new systems, dashboards, reports, or frameworks.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Guide and mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to align on strategic goals and influence data-driven decisions.
Advanced Analytics Solutions:
- Develop and implement advanced analytics solutions to address complex business problems.
- Design and execute end-to-end machine learning projects, from data collection to model deployment.
Data Strategy & Insights:
- Analyze relevant consumer datasets and propose actionable recommendations to support planning and decision-making process.
- Scout for potential opportunities to increase efficiency through measurable solutions.
- Contribute to the company's data strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Communication & Training:
- Communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Provide support and training to teams on analytical tools, methodologies, and best practices.
Innovation & Best Practices:
- Stay current with advancements in data science and analytics, incorporating new techniques and technologies as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain best practices for data science methodologies and processes.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering or relevant fields.
- Minimum 6 years experience in Analytical roles in the e-commerce or the Internet industry.
- Full professional working proficiency in English is required, on top of fluency in Vietnamese
- Advanced knowledge of analytical tools such as Excel (VBA, Pivot), database querying (SQL, Presto, Hive), visualization and reporting tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Holistic)
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages (Python, R)
- Strong ability to work with large and complex data sets
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team of analysts, either through project-based initiatives or formal reporting lines, to define and address complex analytical challenges
- Proven extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including both business and technical stakeholders, to drive alignment and strategic business decisions
