Role Overview

• We’re seeking a Data Engineer Expert to help shape the foundation of intelligent systems built on high-quality product data. In this role, you’ll be central to designing scalable data pipelines and knowledge structures that power critical AI and ML-driven features.

As a Data Engineer Expert at Beyond, you’ll:

• Architect and implement scalable data pipelines (batch and real-time) to ingest, process, and enrich large-scale product data.
• Build sophisticated data transformations for tasks such as attribute extraction, normalization, deduplication, and entity resolution.
• Develop and maintain knowledge infrastructure, including metadata layers, product graphs, ontologies, and embeddings.
• Collaborate with domain experts to define and evolve taxonomies, classification schemas, and product hierarchies.
• Proactively monitor and enhance data quality, consistency, and lineage; enforce data contracts and validation rules.
• Continuously optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and scalability in a cloud-native environment.
• Promote engineering best practices around testing, documentation, versioning, and observability for data workflows.

Things that will make you stand out:

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience building large-scale, production-grade data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Beam, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, or similar streaming and batch processing technologies.
• Skilled in Python, Java, or Scala. Experience with SQL, dbt, or BigQuery is a plus.
• Solid foundation in data modeling, schema design, and data lifecycle management.
• Comfortable working with a variety of data formats, including JSON, Avro, and Protobuf.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and an ability to collaborate across engineering, ML, and product teams.

Nice to Have

• Background in e-commerce, product data management, or catalog systems.
• Experience working with knowledge graphs or semantic data modeling.
• Familiarity with ML workflows and collaboration with data science or ML engineering teams.
