The EME team is currently seeking an equity analyst for the MSIM’s Core Global Emerging Markets Team on the Emerging Market Equity (EME) platform, which manages over $15B of assets across several emerging markets and non-U.S. equity offerings. The individual will be an integral part of the Core GEM team, working directly with research analysts and portfolio managers to create and implement research projects across the team relating to country, sector/industry and company fundamental financial and sustainability analysis. To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter, creative and curious, with a strong interest in international capital markets, security analysis, sustainability and data statistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in team’s equity investment process, including conducting fundamental research on emerging markets stocks and building detailed financial models.
  • Collaborate with the investment team to identify and understand relevant drivers of stock performance within specific countries, sectors and industries
  • Help prepare detailed investment and sustainability theses and presentations for internal stakeholders as well as external clients
  • Develop and maintain financial models focusing on critical investment and stock drivers
  • Analyze financial statements to assess profitability, liquidity and capital allocation of companies
  • Conduct company materiality analysis and thematic research on sustainability topics such as decarbonization, labor management and supply chain
  • Benchmarking companies to sector and global peers across important operating and financial metrics
  • Monitor important sector and stock developments and quarterly earnings to track versus original investment thesis
  • In-depth industry research analyzing competitive landscape, growth trends and macroeconomic factors affecting the sector
  • Conduct multiple valuation methodologies such as DCF, DDM and asset-based valuations where necessary
  • Lead quality assurance of team’s portfolio company data, especially non-financial, monitoring data frameworks for monthly and quarterly usage

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Fluent in financial, statistical tools and databases (e.g., Excel, FactSet, Bloomberg, Python)
  • Strong company fundamental analysis skills including proficient in GAAP/IFRS accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Ability to think critically and synthesize ideas; analytical aptitude
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Passion for international capital markets and investment management
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $95,000 and $125,000 per year at the commencement of employment.  However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
