Scope of Work
Background
Save the Children Indonesia (SC IDN) gained the status as an Associate Member Country in November 2019. In 2021, SC IDN’s Board of Patron has approved the transformation towards a Diversified Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) business model. The Transform Hub has been set up in May 2023 to navigate and facilitate the overall transformation, which consists of two pathways: (a) the main transformation workplan (b) the innovation sandbox, that leads to achieve SCIDN goals for children by 2030. We are looking for a consultancy role of Innovation & Ecosystem Consultant to support SCIDN in achieving the transformation goals.
Objectives
The External Collaborator (EC) will report to the Head of Transform Hub and work closely with the Transformation Team, the Director of Humanitarian & Impact Innovation, as well as the Resource Mobilization (ResMob) Team to identify funding opportunities and coordinate proposal development. The EC will also liaise with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board of Executive (BOE) as needed for alignment and approval processes. Additionally, the EC is expected to support the implementation, progress monitoring, and evaluation of the Innovation Sandbox.
The Innovation Sandbox is developed as a platform to explore, develop, and test fit-for-purpose models in delivering impact, achieve financial sustainability, and strengthen the operational capabilities/support function (including digital/data/technology) to support the future financial growth and replication of impacts delivered by SCIDN. Within the Innovation Sandbox, the EC is expected to support the facilitation of exploration and experimentation of future impact & revenue models of SCIDN, together with the Head of Transform Hub and Workstream Leads/Co-Leads. S/he will be involved in formulating innovative initiatives into a solid/tested model before moving into the main transformation pathway.
Scope of Work
The EC will be expected to deliver day-to-day responsibilities as follows:
- Support the completion of ecosystem convener model with operational manual/guideline and tools.
- Support the development of impact and revenue model with manual/guideline and toolsSupport to revisit localization roadmap in collaboration with partnership unit.
- Strengthening the concept of SC IDN BESTARI.
- Strengthening the scheme of DTIK (Dana Siaga Bencana).
- Identify opportunities for accessing innovation grants for NGO.
- Lead the institutionalization of innovation across SCIDN’s strategies, programming, and operations.
- Actively involved in the discussion and coordination with other Transform Hub team members, including supporting other Transformation agenda and activities whenever required, including but not limited to facilitating meetings, workshops, preparing pitch-decks, talking points, and executive summary documents.
- Other tasks as necessary and agreed beforehand with the Supervisor and the organization
Deliverables
- Deliverables are submitted monthly, along with the record of monthly activities, to be reviewed and approved by the supervisor and organization. Deliverables may include but are not limited to the following:
- Ecosystem Convener Operational Manual/Guideline
- Updated localization roadmap
- BESTARI Concept
- DTIK Scheme
- List of identified innovation grants
- Institutionalisation plan for innovation
Qualifications
Essential:
- A degree in relevant study, master's degree is preferred
- 10+ years of experience in program development, innovation, as wells as innovative financing in non-profit or private sector, working in international organization is preferred
- A solid experience in developing and applying innovation to solve social challenges
- A strong understanding of concepts such as theory of change, design thinking, business ecosystem, localization, scientific method, and impact measurements
- Adaptive thinking and a strong critical mindset, business acumen, and presentation skills
- Proficient at project planning, budgeting, and project oversight
- Forward-thinking and adaptable to dynamic situations, with the ability to work on tight deadlines
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, both in Indonesia and in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Self-motivated and highly flexible individual who can manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Competency in Microsoft 365 applications
Desirable:
- Previous experience in other child-focused organizations in the non-profit sector
- Understanding of emerging digital technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), blockchain, and sustainable technology
