Ryan Specialty Benefits is seeking an Actuarial Director Healthcare to join our team either in one of our principal offices or remotely. Reporting to the Chief Actuary Healthcare, this role is pivotal in shaping actuarial strategy, policies, and processes to achieve financial goals through risk analysis and forecasting. The Actuarial Director will collaborate closely with underwriting, finance, and clinical teams to support organizational objectives.What will your job entail?
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic initiatives to ensure data-driven decision-making, operational excellence, and improved client sales and retention in alignment with Ryan Specialty's vision.
- Collaborate with sales and underwriting teams to optimize sales and retention through pricing analyses and recommendations.
- Partner with the executive team on new partnerships to align business results with strategic and financial goals.
- Work closely with the Underwriting team to evaluate and determine appropriate rates and factors for new and renewal business.
- Maintain and enhance pricing and rating tools, focusing on standardization and automation across underwriting, data collection, and reporting.
- Liaise with carrier partners regarding program and portfolio underwriting and performance.
- Develop and refine healthcare cost models, utilization trends, and risk assessments using advanced actuarial techniques.
- Serve as a resource for the clinical team in evaluating risks in the stop-loss market.
- Improve portfolio management analytics shared with the executive team.
- Conduct industry, peer, and market analyses to support product development and new initiatives.
- Drive strategy around technology use, external data, and enterprise data organization.
- Support the development of innovative insurance products within the underwriting portfolio.
- Train and develop colleagues as needed.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of the insurance industry, actuarial trends, market conditions, and competitor information.
Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, statistics, economics, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in the field.
- FSA or ASA designation from the Society of Actuaries (or equivalent).
- Ability to work independently to solve complex challenges, including developing underwriting improvement plans and new rating plans.
- Proficient in data manipulation, analytics, modeling, and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, R, Python).
- Strong interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
- Committed team player with strong attention to detail.
- Creative problem-solving skills and willingness to engage at all levels of the process.

The target salary range for this position is $168,000.00 - $210,000.00 annually.The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
