Role Purpose
The Supply Chain Market Intelligence Group (MIG) is a team responsible for delivering cost and supply chain insights across all goods and services procured globally by the energy and natural resource industry. Our clients primarily leverage these insights to understand supply chain market trends, identify opportunities to save money and reduce risks. We are a hybrid group that takes on many roles: data analyst, market researcher, economist, consultant and product owner. In our hybrid role, we collaborate closely with many teams in the company, including product development, data science, research groups, consulting, sales & marketing and customer success, among others.
This role will focus on the generating and delivering supply chain and cost insights related to traditional generation assets including gas plants and T&D infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities
- Estimate the cost to build and operate traditional generation plants including simple cycle gas plants, combined cycle gas plants, and other assets across the utility grid.
- Deliver in-depth presentations on traditional generation supply chain trends to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop original market research and analysis with a culmination in client deliverables and industry thought leadership pieces.
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients as an expert on select Wood Mackenzie supply chain products and traditional generation supply chains.
- Leverage Wood Mackenzie proprietary data along with primary research to develop goods and services price forecasts and strategy recommendations for our clients.
- Deliver insights through our SaaS product platform and through reports that include both conceptual analysis and quantitative findings.
- Support the sales process by creating marketing collateral infused with market insights and contributing to go-to-market strategies, proposal development and product demonstrations.
- Perform data extraction, manipulation, cleaning, analysis, and audit of large datasets, relying on well-structured procedures and maintaining reproducibility of results.
About You
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power markets. Passionate about energy with a strong understanding of the sector and markets in the Americas as well as supply chains.
- Strong networking skills and the ability to develop relationships with key industry stakeholders.
- Strong analytical capabilities, both qualitative and quantitative. Fluent with Excel and PowerPoint. GenAI, coding and programming experience (Python, R, etc.) is a plus.
- Intellectually curious and can think critically about the effect of a wider business landscape.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a global team.
- Proficient in managing and analyzing large data sets, identifying discrepancies, and implementing precise adjustments.
- Comfortable presenting complex subjects to less technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills with success in a team environment.
- A bachelor’s degree in related technology, economics, or business field. A masters or PhD degree is a plus but not required.
- Fluency with reading, writing and communicating in English.
